This course is recognized by the Gujarat University. Twenty-six students participated in this course, conducted by ten external scholars of the subject. They were taught different aspects of Manuscriptology and given training with practical exercises in the identification and categorising of the manuscripts. The course was completed with a written test. All students were presented with a certificate for successfully completing the course by the Institute’s Managing Director in India, Dr Kumarpal Desai who was accompanied by well known literary personalities like Shree Chandrakant Sheth and Shree Mahesh Champaklal.

This was the third course in a series of courses being run by the Institute. The Institute has been quite active in developing the number of scholars in Manuscriptology in Gujarat, particularly those with an understanding of Jain manuscripts. A three-day national seminar on Manuscriptology was held by the Institute in Ahmedabad that was followed by a 15-day workshop.

Institute of Jainology India in conjunction with Gujarat Vishvakosh Trust arranges regular lectures on Jain Scriptures and Philosophy by learned scholars. These lectures have proved quite popular and several proposals are being considered to devise a structured program for the laypersons to understand the scriptures and the philosophy.  Currently, Smt Chhayaben Shah is delivering weekly lectures on understanding the Pratikraman Sutras. Average attendance is around 40 students.
