Celebrating 50 years of Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue at the Vatican

It was 19th May 1964 when Pope Paul VI instituted the “Secretariat for Non-Christians”, the forerunner of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue (PCID) at The Holy See.  Monday, 19th May 2014 was the Golden Anniversary celebration and the auditorium was filled by over 250 representatives from the Catholic Church as well as many other faith organisations.

Dr Harshad Sanghrajka, our Deputy Chair, was invited and represented ALL JAINS WORLDWIDE.  The Directors decided to send a message from the Chair as well as a laser engraved crystal memento to be presented to Cardinal Tauran, President of the PCID.  The pictures show the memento being presented to Cardinal Tauran with the Secretary of PCID, Rev. Fr. Miguel Ayuso.

Institute of Jainology has held close relations with The Holy See over past several years and has always sent a Jain representative to attend their events.  We have also had the pleasure of receiving Cardinal Tauran at the Jain Derasar in Potters Bar.
