Shrimad was one of the greatest exponents of Jain philosophy of modern times; he spread Lord Mahavira’s message in simple and understandable language. His life and his writings have been described in detail on several web sites (LINK) but a brief comment made by Mahatma Gandhiji sometimes described as the father of modern India, in his autobiography will suffice here to define his personality:
‘I cannot describe the lasting influence which Shrimad Rajchandrabhai has had on my life. For many years I have been in search of a righteous person in India, but I have not yet met anyone who can compare to Shri Rajchandrabhai. Amongst European philosophers, I consider Tolstoy to be of the top class and Ruskin the second order scholar. However, the experience of Rajchandrabhai was superior to both of theirs.’
