Several courses have been organised in partnership with Jain Vishva Bharati Institute of Ladnun to teach Prakrit during summer holidays in London at JVB Sayer Centre.   Initially, the courses were delivered by Dr Jagat Ram Bhattacharyya from Ladnun. Over a period of time, thereafter, the courses have been delivered by the resident Samani jis at the JVB Sayer Centre.

 

It is to be noted that several students who attended these courses have become familiar with the language at a sophisticated level, understanding its grammar and able to read the Jain texts which are written in Ardha-Magadhi Prakrit.

 

It is IoJ’s desire to continue with this practice and to enhance the level in partnership with Universities in India to run specialised courses packaged to suit UK holidays when people can take time off and travel to India to participate with local students.
