Background

The Institute of Jainology (IoJ) propagates values of compassion and non-violence, preached by Lord Mahavir, through art, culture and education.  Through the propagation of such values, IoJ wishes to create good citizenship, community cohesion and sustainable development.

The Institute often receives requests from other organisations in the UK and abroad to provide a tailored educational activity based on the preaching of Lord Mahavir and the Jain faith.  The role of the Jain Education Team (JET) is to prepare and deliver lectures, courses or workshops fulfilling the requirements of the requestor yet ensuring alignment with IoJ’s Mission Statement.  Members of JET also attend Interfaith events, as required.

The team was formed in August 2012.  Since then, many individual sessions and courses have been developed to offer to interested groups and organisations.  In addition, specific tailored educational activities may also be requested.
