The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service is the highest award given to local volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work in their communities. The awards were created in 2002 to celebrate the Queen’s Golden Jubilee and winners are announced each year on 2 June – the anniversary of the Queen’s Coronation. Award winners this year range from Ablaze, a charity helping to raise academic achievement amongst disadvantaged young people in Bristol to a volunteer rescue boat service on Loch Lomond.

The President of the Kendra, Mr Baburai  Shah said ‘ We are proud to be one of those few organisations (and possibly the first Gujarati organization) to have such an honour bestowed on this Kendra in a short span of eight years of existence.  All the credit goes to our volunteers for their dedicated service and to all the members for making our such success possible. Our thanks go to Dr Harshad Sanghrajka for nominating us for this Award.”

The Board of Directors of the Institute also conveyed their congratulations to the President & the Secretary for this wonderful recognition of excellent services they provide to the Community elders and wished them continued success in their endeavours.
